Our Story

ReVel Collab is led by Drs. Alicia Dahl and Jessamyn Moxie. We are social science researchers located in Charlotte, NC. Our work grew out of our adaptation and refinement of the “Paper Chase” model (Schaumberg et al. (2015) which aims to improve the traditional barriers and lags in the academic publishing cycle.

Our team has been selected for their abilities in facilitation, passion for research, and experience with science communication. We partner with established research teams and institutions to develop accessible pathways to research for students and faculty. We build capacities in collaboration and writing in order to improve the engagement of all members and disseminate research. We aim to empower more marginalized individuals in research engagement and reduce the science communication translation gap.

Drs. Alicia Dahl and Jessamyn Moxie believe in the power of collaboration. We have a team of facilitators who undergo rigorous training to ensure that all our clients have high-quality experiences. Alicia is a leader for local and national professional organizations working to improve population health through interdisciplinary collaborations. With specialized skills in health education, science communication, and facilitating partnerships, Alicia has over 30 peer-reviewed publications, she writes and produces podcasts for behavioral interventions, and contributes frequently to public education dissemination outlets. Jessamyn has been facilitating groups for 20 years and has over 80 peer-reviewed publications, 80% of which include student co-authors. As an art-lover and social advocate, Jessamyn enjoys training teams in creative communication that extends beyond traditional formats.

We value what people bring to the table, and we center strengths-based approaches when facilitating collaborations. Our identities shape the work we do. Alicia is a first-generation college graduate, white, and cisgender woman and Jessamyn is a young-ish bisexual, white, cisgender woman from the south.
